In a startling display of reckless driving, Swindon police caught an astonishing 88 drivers speeding in under an hour during a recent operation. The operation, conducted on Queens Drive, Swindon, outside Holy Cross Primary School, revealed a shocking trend. Between 10:30 and 11:25 GMT on Friday, 77 drivers were offered a speed awareness course, 9 faced fines and points, and 2 were summoned to court. The fastest driver was clocked at a staggering 58mph, nearly double the 30mph speed limit. Wiltshire Police's Road Safety Supervisor, Sarah Holden, emphasized the dangers of speeding, stating that it remains a leading cause of serious and fatal collisions.
