Shara Magomedov vs Arman Tsarukyan Rematch: What’s Next After the Draw? (2026)

The grappling world is buzzing! Shara Magomedov and Arman Tsarukyan, after their highly anticipated match ended in a draw, both crave a rematch. This bout has been hailed as one of the most talked-about grappling matches ever, and the desire for a sequel is palpable.

'Shara Bullet,' with his significant size advantage as a middleweight, faced off against Tsarukyan, a more experienced and technically skilled grappler, despite being a natural lightweight. The result? An exciting, albeit awkward, six-minute clash that ended without a clear victor.

But here's where it gets controversial...

Would you be interested in seeing a rematch between Arman Tsarukyan and Shara Magomedov? Perhaps even an MMA fight between them?

Both fighters are eager for a second encounter, but they have different ideas about how it should be structured. An MMA fight in the UFC seems unlikely due to the three-division difference. Magomedov, however, has proposed a longer bout with clearer rules.

In an interview with Red Corner MMA, Shara Magomedov expressed his thoughts on the event. He called it the 'most hyped grappling match of all time' and suggested new rules for a rematch with Arman Tsarukyan.

"I think I had to win that but six minutes is not long enough," Magomedov stated. "Next time I want it to be two rounds, five minutes each. Or two rounds, three minutes each. Submission only, but I also need to study the rules. How do they score it and what do you have to do to gain points? We can have one round of freestyle wrestling and one more under grappling rules." He even joked about adding a Muay Thai round, which would be against UFC rules.

"I’m ready to fight under any ruleset. The main thing is to make the crowd entertained and give them what they want. It was actually a very high-level clash, the whole world was aware of it and I don’t think a grappling match has ever been hyped up so much. The most hyped of all time, as if it was an MMA fight! Only me and Arman managed to build it up so well, everybody was shocked when they found out about our clash, well we decided to give the fans some entertainment before the New Year.”

Arman Tsarukyan also wants a rematch. In his interview with Red Corner MMA, he was asked if they could compete under different rules, maybe even an MMA bout. Tsarukyan responded with enthusiasm, "Yes. Why not? It’s good hype and people enjoy it. There’s been a lot of media as if it was a UFC fight.”

What do you think? Do you agree with Magomedov's assessment of the match? Would you prefer a rematch under grappling rules, or are you hoping for an MMA showdown? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
