Freeman believes that the increasing number of roundabouts, currently at 30 with 12 more planned, is not the right solution for the growing community's traffic needs. He points out that the circular intersections are causing safety concerns, particularly with yield signs, and that driver behavior is a major issue. The city officials, however, argue that roundabouts are safer and more efficient, citing traffic studies and data from the Federal Highway Administration that shows significant safety improvements compared to traditional intersections. Despite the statistical benefits, Freeman believes that the solution lies in better driver education rather than continued roundabout construction. He suggests that traffic lights could be a better alternative for preventing accidents.
