New York's Bold Move: A Data Center Moratorium to Tackle AI's Energy Crisis
The energy demands of AI are sparking a crisis, and New York is taking a stand with a proposed moratorium on data center construction. The proposal, introduced by Senator Liz Krueger and Assemblymember Anna Kelles, is being hailed as the nation's strongest data center moratorium bill. A Democratic gubernatorial candidate in Wisconsin has also joined the call for a moratorium. These efforts reflect a growing awareness of the environmental and social challenges posed by the rapid expansion of AI data centers.
