In a move that's sending ripples through Tampa's radio scene, Nathan 'Brody' Halegua has signed off from his morning show duties at WMTX "Mix 100.7," leaving listeners wondering what's next for their favorite wake-up guy. After six years of waking up Tampa Bay, Brody's departure marks the end of an era at the iHeartMedia AC station.
Brody's journey with WMTX began in April 2019 when he joined Laura Diaz to co-host the coveted morning slot. Remember those mornings with Laura and Brody? But here's where it gets controversial... Diaz's departure in September for a role outside the radio industry left Brody to helm the show solo. Before his time at Mix 100.7, Brody spent a whopping eleven years within the iHeartMedia Tampa cluster, captivating audiences during the night shift at CHR powerhouse 93.3 WFLZ, starting back in 2014. And this is the part most people miss... his resume also boasts on-air stints at WFKS in Jacksonville, WJHM in Orlando, WKSS in Hartford, WXXL, also in Orlando, and KUPL in Portland, showcasing his versatility and broad appeal across different markets and formats.
In a heartfelt Instagram post, Brody shared his feelings about leaving, stating, "Hanging up the headphones for a bit. My chapter at Mix has come to an end, and my heart is full as I look back on this (almost) six-year record breaking journey. To my incredible listeners and partners, thank you. You showed up for me every morning, and I can’t tell you how much that support, laughter, and loyalty has meant. You invited me into your homes, your cars, and your routines, a privilege I’ll never take for granted."
He continued, "I hope I brought a smile, a moment of connection, or a little fun to your mornings because you certainly did that for me. You made every early alarm worth it, and I’ll always carry that with me."
Brody's message resonated with a sense of gratitude and optimism, despite the unexpected turn of events. "This isn’t the ending I pictured, and it’s not easy to say goodbye. But I’m leaving with gratitude for the opportunities given to me, pride in the work I’ve done, and a strong sense of my worth. I’ve grown in ways I never expected, both personally and professionally, and I’m confident I’ll land exactly where I’m meant to be next. Everything happens for a reason… and I know this is just the start of a new chapter."
